A handfull of DUAXC members made the trip south to Pontefract on 28th January to compete in the Northern Cross Country Championships. It is a pleasure to report that one of members Jen Walsh became Northern champion, winning the Junior girls race by over 40 seconds. We had three athletes running the Junior mens race too. Mike Grimes had a solid run finishing 14th, followed not too distantly by Pat Vis who finished 21st out of around 90 runners. Gareth Maguire failed to finish, which he put down "the fact i am just not man enough" in his post race interview. In the Senior mens race Dan Jenkin came 110th in a highly competetiv race won by GB international Steve Vernon. Kat O'Mahony also had a good run finishing 112th, and well inside of the top half in a womens race that saw regular training partner Rosie Smith finish 4th!.....Just 2 days until BUCS!!!!!!!
