27th February
Start Fitness North East Harrier League:
On what looks like an incredibly muddy course, four club members all performed superbly at the latest Harrier League Handicap race. Wearing the City Harriers vest, Kat O'Mahony finished 6th in the Senior Women's race, having led at one point, with Tory Wells and Emily Field-Lucas also competing strongly. In the Men's race, Dan Jenkin continued his good from and London Marathon preparation by finishing 1st, after just holding off a guy who finished 35th at last weeks Senior Nationals!
Senior Men:
1st: (6th fastest) Dan Jenkin: 34:09
Senior Women:
6th: (29th fastest) Kat O'Mahony: 30:06
29th: (46th fastest) Tory Wells: 31:20
31st (48th fastest) Emily Field-Lucas: 31:29
Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon:
On a hilly course, Ollie Cook continued his unprecadented form by running the quickest DUAXC Half of the season, and just missing his PB as he broke the ninety minute barrier with a fine display.
151st: Ollie Cook: 1:29:38
Finally, a quick mention of some impressive showings by club alumni in recent weeks. Last years Cross-country captain, Matt Proctor showed that he is back in shape after a tough few months, as he clocked 14:26.94 over 5,000m indoors to come 2nd at the Horizon League Indoor Champs in the US (where he is on a scholarship at Butler University.) He followed that up the next day with 2nd place over 3,000m in a season's best 8.29.22, while compatriot (and ex-club President) Becky Howarth also ran a season's best of 10:28.11 at the same event.
